Concept

Quick bystander action can double survival rate if quality CPR is applied and the victim is rushed to the hospital. The problems are several: lack of bystander CPR training; lack of bystander location awareness; bystander suffering emotional distress; provider fatigue; no hospital nearby; poor quality CPR performed by medics.

To increase the odds of survival of the out-of-hospital SCA from 5% to 31% having access to an automated CPR and AED is imperative. Code Blue, would be a reliable, automated CPR/AED medical backboard that would be easy enough to be used by an untrained bystander and could make the difference between life and death if used within the first 5-minutes of the SCA and before the emergency medical services (EMS) arrives.

Code Blue built to look as a medical backboard with straps, would have attached or semi-attached components. The system incorporates robotics, AI, and life-saving components that autonomously performs critical functions. The systems controller would make all the components communicate seamlessly, avoiding the need for duplicate diagnostics while allowing for a more compact fabrication.

Follows Chain of Survival Protocol

Intelligent medical device

GNSS/GSM/GPRS module communicates its location and transmits the victim’s vitals. AI in Code Blue will compare the victim’s weight, gender, age, and vitals to the connected intelligence to diagnose, predict, adapt, and for continuous analytics. The victim’s medical records will be accessed and the device will start personalized therapy and provide vital information to EMS.

Code Blue will relay detailed information on the status and vitals of the patient to 911 operators and EMS personnel.  A voice channel is also established automatically. The less time the bystander has to spend initially interacting with the 911 operator, the faster the bystander can assist the victim. The less guessing that EMS has to do to find the victim’s location, the quicker they will be able to arrive to the location. Time saved = lives saved.
